On Sunday, August 7, 2016, Sarah Donnelly kindly served as our guest preacher and worship leader while the Rev. Amanda Currie was on holidays. Sarah often provides pulpit supply at St. Andrew’s, and is appreciated by members of the congregation as a thoughtful worship leader and preacher. Sarah Donnelly, BA, M.Div., offers workshops and retreats, grief support groups, and spiritual direction and pulpit supply for the ecumenical Christian community. Sarah and her husband Scott are members of The Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Saskatoon, where Scott is Rector of the Cathedral and Dean of the Anglican Diocese of Saskatoon.
Sarah’s sermon on August 7th picked up our summer theme of the “Fruit of the Spirit” with an emphasis on the 6th fruit which is generosity or goodness. Although Sarah did not give her sermon a title, an appropriate one might be “Be Not Afraid.” Sarah acknowledges using resources for this sermon developed by April Berends, Richard Rohr and Scott Pittendrigh. It was based on the following lectionary scripture readings for the day:
Isaiah 1:1, 10-20
Psalm 50:1-8
Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16
Luke 12:32-40
