Note: As we progress through COVID, activities will resume as appropriate. Please check the weekly bulletin or call the office to confirm the current status of events and programs.
“The gifts Christ gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4: 11-12)
As the church, the body of Christ, on 20th Street and Spadina, God is always calling and equipping people for different purposes: some to worship, some to lead, some to serve, some to study, and some to teach.
You are invited to share your gifts with us as we serve one another and our neighbours in downtown Saskatoon:

Choir
The choir meets for rehearsals in the sanctuary on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. The choir leads the hymns on Sunday mornings. The choir always welcomes new members.
Women’s Camp
Women’s Camp is a weekend away for women of all ages. It happens at Camp Christopher, our Synod Camp, on the weekend after Labour Day each September. It’s always a great weekend of learning, bible study, fellowship, and fun in the outdoors.
Prayer Shawl Group
Our volunteers knit prayer shawls with prayer and love, and give them to people in our community who are grieving, sick, homebound or experiencing other challenges. We also make baby blankets for little ones being baptized into our church community.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a program for kids in Grades 1-8. It often takes place for one week during the summer. The program includes Bible stories, singing, crafts, drama, games and more.
Board of Managers
The Board of Managers is the group that looks after the church property and finances. The Board meets once a month to attend to the good stewardship of our resources. Board members are nominated and approved to serve in this way at a congregational meeting.
The Session
The Session is the group that oversees everything that happens within the church and its ministries. The Session is made up of ruling elders – men and women who are elected by the congregation and ordained to serve in this way. The minister is the moderator of the Session.
Committees of Session work to plan special programs and worship services, and to support the ongoing ministry of St. Andrew’s. The committees include Christian Education, Outreach, Pastoral Care, Stewardship and Worship. The committees are always looking for willing volunteers to join them in their particular ministries. Most committees meet about once each month, except during the summer.
Committees
As Presbyterians (literally a church “of elders”), we strive to represent as much of the community in our decision-making and planning as possible. Committee work is a great way to share your gifts and voice in St. Andrew’s Christian Education, Outreach, Pastoral Care, Stewardship, and Worship missions.
Teachers and Leaders
Teachers and Leaders contribute to the ministry of St. Andrew’s by offering their gifts at church school teachers, and leaders for children’s and youth programs during the week. Volunteers in these areas are interviewed, sign a covenant of care document and are also asked to have a criminal record check. We value the safety and security of our children, youth and vulnerable adults, so we follow the Leading with Care policy of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
Ushers and Greeters
Ushers and Greeters on Sunday mornings provide a warm welcome to visitors and newcomers to our church. Speak to one of the ushers if you are interested in helping out with this ministry.
Sound System Volunteers & Live Stream Team
Sound System Volunteers make sure that our sound system is working properly for Sunday worship. They monitor the sound levels and make recordings of the worship service. Note: Headphones are available for those who are hearing impaired. Speak to one of the team members if you would like to help out with this ministry.
Bible Study
Rev. Roberto and our Christian Education team offer a variety of Bible Studies throughout the year. Recently, we have explored Rob Bell’s “Nooma” series on faith and discipleship as well as Jesus’ use of Isaiah in the Gospels. Check back soon for details on our upcoming Bible Study opportunities.
Hosts for Coffee Time
Hosts for Coffee Time make the coffee and tea for our fellowship time after church. They usually bring some cookies or other snacks as well. Contact the church office if you would like to help with this ministry of welcome.
