A lot is going on at St. Andrew’s! Please take a few minutes to read through the following announcements, to make sure you’re “in the know”. 🙂
Reminder About the Church Parking Lot: St. Andrew’s is renting out 10 parking stalls on the south side of the parking lot, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please note that during the rental hours, only those who are at the church are permitted to park in the lot in the unreserved parking spots. Parking is no longer available for those who wish to park in the lot while downtown.
The Search for a Minister: The Presbyterian Church in Canada has a process to go through when a congregation is searching for a minister. The process involves several steps.
(a) The first step was saying goodbye to Amanda, appointing the Interim Moderators, and establishing a Search Committee. The Committee members are Spencer Hanson (Convenor), Diane Tait-Katerberg, Allan Ireland, Bernice Shih, Jan Rodda, Hasting Nyekanyeka, Fafali Ahiahonu, Heather Reichert, Donna Bailey.
(b) The next step is to put together a profile of our congregation in order to give candidates a good picture of life here in Saskatoon and in this church. This includes establishing the “Roll of members”, so that we are ready to vote on a possible minister, and doing research on our church and our city. This will also include an upcoming questionnaire to the congregation, etc.
Please keep the Search Committee in your prayers as we continue the search.
Help Earn Money for St. Andrew’s without spending any extra cash! Buy grocery or gas gift cards for stores and gas stations you shop at, and St. Andrew’s will receive a percentage of the sale! Order forms are available on the church’s entranceway table. Submit completed order forms along with your payment of cash or cheque (payable to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church) to Arline Sanderson.
Attention Youth & Young Adults! Saskatchewan Presbyterian Youth from around the province will be meeting at First Presbyterian Church in Regina from November 3-5. Registration form is available on SPY’s Facebook page. (Type “SPY” in the search field.) Text Martha at 306-270-2378 for details.
New Elders For St. Andrew’s Session: The congregation is invited to submit nominations for the election of new elders by Sunday, November 5th. Please prayerfully consider who God may be calling to the ministry of ruling eldership at St. Andrew’s. A membership list is posted on the entranceway bulletin board and nomination forms are available on the entranceway table. Place completed nomination forms in the box on the entranceway table. (NOTE: Please do not contact your nominee(s) regarding nominating them. The nominees will be contacted by Session later in the process.)
Let’s Keep Our Directory Up to Date! If you’re new to St. Andrew’s, we’d love to include you in our directory! Please plan to have your photo taken in the church library following the worship service on Sunday, November 5th (12:15-1:30 pm). No appointments necessary. (Directories are available from the church office for a suggested donation of $5.) Note: If you are already in the directory, but your photo needs updating, please take this opportunity to have your photo taken too.
The Outreach Committee would like to send a HUGE thanks to Marina Onclin for preparing this month’s Bible study meal for the U of S Ecumenical Chaplaincy. The committee agreed to provide a meal for the students that take part in its Bible study on the third Wednesday of each month. If you would like to help out with this ministry by providing a pot of soup or stew, please talk to one of the committee members.
During the Month of November, a member of the Worship and Music Committee will lead an informal discussion about the sermon following the worship service in the lower hall. The aim is to encourage people to think together about how the morning’s message can make a difference in our everyday lives and activities.
Beginning in November, the Worship and Music Committee (WMC) will organize greeters and ushers for most Sundays. (The Ahiahonu family will continue to look after the first Sunday of each month.) Details about the weekly organization of greeters/ushers will appear in November. Please let Matthew (matthew.neufeld@usask.ca) know if you would like to begin or continue to volunteer as a greeter or usher so that the WMC can put you on the greeters/ushers list.
