A Sunday School Huddle: Following worship this Sunday, March 15th we will be gathering in the library to talk about Sunday School. Drop by and talk about the upcoming curriculum lessons or your desire to teach/volunteer with the program. There are lots of ways to volunteer: You could be a teacher, a sample craft maker, a weekday organizer person, or special day visitor. Come chat about the Children’s Ministry with Martha Fergusson. (Would you rather book a coffee with Martha at another time? Just text/call 306-270-2378.) Together we will create a meaningful ministry for our children.
Church Membership: Rev. Amanda is thinking of offering a membership class this spring, since at least one person has indicated an interest in becoming a member. If you are new to our church community, or if you have never formally become a member, or if you just want to explore your faith a little more, you’re welcome to join us. Please speak to Rev. Amanda if you are interested so that we can arrange meeting times to suit all our schedules.
A Service Of Prayer For Healing And Wholeness: On Wednesday, March 18th at 7:00 pm, you are invited to a special prayer service for healing and wholeness at St. Andrew’s. At this service of worship, all who sense the need for God’s healing in any aspect of their lives may join in prayer for others and themselves. Each person may come to receive a word of blessing and prayer. Each one may also receive a physical gesture of healing: the laying on of hands, which may be accompanied by anointing with oil. In its ministry of prayer for healing, the church does not replace the gifts of God that come through the scientific community nor does it promise a cure. Rather, the church offers and celebrates gifts such as these: God’s presence with strength and comfort in time of suffering, God’s promise of wholeness and peace, and God’s love embodied in the community of faith. All are welcome.
During The Season Of Lent each year, the people of St. Andrew’s are encouraged to collect coins to support the work of Presbyterian World Service and Development. This year, the Stewardship Committee would like to support the efforts of PWS&D’s relief response to flooding in Malawi. PWS&D is working with Mulanje Mission Hospital, local communities and village health workers to rebuild 1,000 latrines in the hardest hit areas. For just $35, a new toilet can be provided – a cement slab and tin roofing, together with locally made bricks will construct a new latrine. Coin-collecting jars are available on the entranceway table, or use a container from home, but remember to bring it back on Easter Sunday. There are also some PWS&D envelopes in the entranceway if you would prefer to write a cheque. (Mark your donation “Malawi floods”.)
Together At Lent - Saturday, March 28th 10:00 am to Noon: Do you have church friends from every decade? If not, come out to a special Lent program at St. Andrew’s for all ages, meet some new people, and expand your faith family. Join Rev. Amanda Currie and Martha Fergusson for an enjoyable morning of reflections and interactions as the journey to the cross draws closer. There will be an egg hunt, singing, and other seasonal activities. Apple cider and hot cross buns will be served. Bring a toonie or loonie for St. Andrew’s PWS&D Lenten Appeal.
